post-Sandy walk through the Navy Yard

I couldn't resist a visit on Wednesday, being stir-crazy like the rest of the City from three days of hunkering down.  The Yard had wisely turned off their electric preemptively on Sunday, and most of the activity I saw was clean-up and pumping out of swamped groundfloor spaces.  There was mud everywhere with debris; Duggal had a building that was damaged by the high tide and workers said all their equipment was damaged.  I later ran into a couple of artists who have studios there, who told me cars were floating.  The flooding appears to have reached four foot depths.  I took some photos, the most dramatic being of fireboats moved to higher ground and an overturned trailer.
